My Ántonia is a new musical adaptation of Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Willa Cather’s 1918 masterpiece.

Commissioned by Theater Latte Da, the project, which pairs the composing team The Kilbanes with Noah Brody and Jessie Austrian of Fiasco Theater, is an ensemble-led, folk-rock musical that tells the story of the immigration and survival of a young Bohemian girl and her family to a farm in Nebraska in the 1880s. In her masterful story, Cather not only tracks the rise of the Midwest as an agricultural superpower, she subtly asserts a new founding story of American exceptionalism: its greatness was achieved not so much because of the conquests of rugged individuals, as the communities of determined, immigrant women.
