My AntoniA

My Antonia is a new musical adaptation of Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Willa Cather’s 1918 masterpiece. The project, which pairs the composing team The Kilbanes with Noah Brody and Jessie Austrian of Fiasco Theater, is an ensemble-led, folk-rock musical that tells the story of the immigration and survival of a young Bohemian girl and her family to a farm in Nebraska in the 1880s. In her masterful story, Cather not only tracks the rise of the Midwest as an agricultural superpower, she subtly asserts a new founding story of American exceptionalism: its greatness was achieved not so much because of the conquests of rugged individuals, as the communities of determined, immigrant women.
